Davenport lies around the Mississippi River of Iowa. It is Scott County’s county seat. It was founded last May 14th of the year 1836 by a certain Antoine LeClaire, following the peace treaty signing that ended the Black Hawk War. The city’s name was derived from Antoine LeClaire’s friend, Colonel George Davenport.

There has been a bridge across the River Ericht connecting the two communities of Blairgowrie and Rattray since the time of the military road. The bridge has been washed away on numerous occasions, but now has been strengthened and expanded to cope with modern traffic levels.
The main reason for the growth of both settlements was the water mills built on the fast flowing river to serve the linen industry. Many people were employed as weavers. At one time more than 1500 people were employed in this industry.
Tourism started to take off in the 1900s as more visitors travelled to the nearby Glenshee ski area. To cater to the increased number of visitors many hotels were constructed as well as ski shops. Also a Golf Club was created in 1889 which now has an eighteen hole championship course.
The region has also developed as a centre for soft fruits, of which the most common is raspberry. If you explore the region around the town then you will come across acres of fields full raspberry canes. There are many beautiful walks to be had around the area, many of which follow the river. An interesting site is the fish ladder placed on the river bed which allows salmon to migrate even when the water levels are low.
If you drive to Blairgowrie from Perth then you cannot miss the famous Meikleour Beech Hedge which stands at over 100 feet high and is claimed to be the tallest hedge in the world!

How do I get the home owner history of a home?
by the address? (Online) the address is 681 Raritan Ave. Perth Amboy, NJ. Its the home of my husbands grandfather, I'm hoping to find some documents with his name to help with his ancestor search.. the time was around 1945.
